BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT IN GUATEMALA
Guatemala business development company, Fin City Associates, S.A. (www.fincityassociates.com) and U.S. philanthropic real estate developer Alekson Development Group (www.aleksongroup.com), foresee a bright future for Guatemala. Together with U.S. development strategy solutions firm, Group West Companies (www.groupwestcompanies.com), the Alliance recently introduced the Luxuriant Masterpiece CollectionTM of ultra-luxury resorts (www.luxuriantworldresorts.com) specifically programmed for Latin America and Guatemala in particular.
Meticulous attention to detail and impeccable personal service are the hallmarks of the Luxuriant Masterpiece CollectionTM. The Luxuriant Masterpiece CollectionTM is a collection of resorts integrating luxury gaming venues; one-of-a-kind international hospitality venues; international eco-spa therapies, wellness and fitness venues; host community cultural venues; water and marina venues where possible; world-class tennis camps; and championship golf courses.
Although specific properties have not yet been secured for investment and development, the Alliance is currently studying available properties at strategic locations in the vicinity of La Antigua, Flores El Petén, Lake Atitlan, Puerto San Jose, Puerto Barrios and Guatemala City.
“We have met many talented professionals in Guatemala who are strongly interested in joining with us to advance development plans for Guatemala and, through those real estate and business development plans, our philanthropic enterprises”. “A majority of the profits from resort and general business operations in Guatemala are allocated to fund economic stimulus enterprises in host communities and around the country” says Gilfredo Lopez, Fin City Associates, S.A. General Manager. “Our team believes delivery of philanthropy should be in the form of educational as well as business infrastructure development with a focus on work-force training designed to take advantage of new employment opportunities created through local business development.”
The Alliance’s philanthropic focus is on charitable and strategic fiscal programs that benefit children and provide a direct, positive economic stimulus to regions targeted for investment. Significant, long-term employment and educational opportunities will be created through the Alliance’s investment programs. These programs include the planned development of 6 Luxuriant Masterpiece CollectionTM resorts and marina facilities around the country to encourage worldwide recognition of tourism opportunities in Guatemala. It is estimated that each resort will train and employ approximately 5,000 local people in well-paying jobs. Currently it is anticipated that the first Luxuriant Masterpiece CollectionTM resort will start construction in late 2010 and will take approximately 2 years to complete construction. Other resort locations will follow as the brand continues to expand throughout Guatemala and Latin America.
Additional investment programs planned for Guatemala by the Alliance include the advancement of Green Technology Bio-Mass alternative energy facilities to help reduce Guatemala’s carbon footprint in the world, habitat housing projects constructed in conjunction with resort developments to help improve living conditions, country-wide medical facilities advancing health services and wellness education, convenience retail centers providing day-to-day needs, and most importantly, the development of in-country generated intellectual assets advancing fiscal sustainability programs intended to increase the standard of living and enhance the opportunities for the general population in communities chosen for investment.

PHILANTHROPY - CHANGE ON A GLOBAL SCALE IS NEEDED
In all things, remember metaphorically, that it is not the size of the army, but the ferocity of the onslaught that ultimately changes the world.
When I was six years old, I was asked by my first grade teacher, to give up one meal a week so a starving child somewhere in the world could receive a meal. It made no sense to me at the time because I could not understand how giving up a meal in Vancouver Canada could possibly get that meal to a starving child somewhere in the world. From the perspective of a six year old, the concept appeared to be logistically flawed. Notwithstanding my thoughts that the concept was fundamentally flawed, I as a six year old, understood that I did not know everything and therefore, I dutifully relinquished one meal a week in support of the starving child.
Since that time, more than five decades have passed and the suggestion made by my first grade teacher clearly did not work then and continues to not work today. The world is still populated with the same starving children; only now there are many more than before. The delivery of western aid around the world has made no significant strides in the care of the world's starving children over the past five decades. What is clearly needed, is for the western nations to begin thinking innovatively outside-the-box regarding how they approach the delivery of aid and philanthropy to the emerging nations of the world.
Alekson Development Group's approach is that philanthropy should be delivered by funding economic infrastructure development in the emerging nations. Economic infrastructure development delivered with the open hand of technological assistance without conditions. A proactive approach resulting in the strengthening of global ties amongst nations and development of new trade markets through the creation of viable and sustainable middle-class economic environments throughout the world.
Now is the time to act. We, as a global community, are poised at a pivotal point in our evolution. It is time that we all stop for a moment in our self-focused, hectic lives and consider how we can individually create a better global environment. A global environment in which all of the world's inhabitants can achieve their individual goals from a variety of available economic opportunities within their immediate communities, without having to leave their families and homes to seek employment elsewhere.
Within the global community in which we all reside, we can no longer afford to individually or collectively live in isolation. Each of us needs to accept the challenges of the new world, join with neighbors within our immediate communities and even more importantly within the global community at large to, in good faith and with forward-looking innovative stewardship, influence our collective evolution for the betterment of the world.
John F. Kennedy, in his famous inaugural speech given on January 20, 1961 said, 'Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country'. Four and one-half decades later, the challenges of globalism are more far-reaching and complicated. The challenges of today need to be rephrased in global terms as, 'Ask not what the world can do for you - ask what you can do for the world'.
No one is immune to the globalism of the modern world, therefore, we need to individually and collectively embrace the global challenges we face and make a difference by how we think and act. Again, remember metaphorically, that it is not the size of the army, but the ferocity of their onslaught that ultimately changes the world. We individually are the onslaught. ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE, REJECT COMPLACENCY AND ACT .....

Introducing The Luxuriant Masterpiece Collection Ultra-Luxury Resort Brand
Conceptualized by Alekson Development Group and Group West Companies in early 2008, Luxuriant World Resorts www.luxuriantworldresorts.com searched the planet to discover the perfect exotic locale to showcase the first branded resort. Because of its close proximity to the United States and diverse locales (mountain, beach and jungle), Central America was chosen for intense exploration. Exotically diverse culture, significant infrastructure and geographic landscapes identified largely undiscovered yet rapidly developing Guatemala, as the premiere candidate for the first branded resorts.
Luxuriant is studying the 7 distinct geographic regions of Guatemala. Initial results point to destinations near the UNESCO World Heritage protected City of La Antigua and Flores El Peten, near the ancient Mayan ruins of Tikal as likely candidates for investment. As Luxuriant matures, expansion will follow from Central America to other exotic locations around the globe.
The Luxuriant Masterpiece Collection brand integrates the broadly appealing convergence of world-class casino gaming; extraordinary ultra-luxury hospitality services; incomparable culinary experiences; luxuriant spa therapies; eco-wellness and fitness programs; exclusive tennis camps; and celebrity signature golf courses. Luxuriant believes true world-class prominence merges rich host community cultural traditions with exceptional Luxuriant-Class service, sumptuous product lines and meticulous attention to detail.
Luxuriant Masterpiece Collection, Luxuriant-Class, Luxuriant-Club, Luxuriant-Style and Paradise Found are Trademarks of Alekson Development Group.

The building permit application has been filed and construction will start in early 2009. The project comprises approximately 130,000 SF of office space and 40,000 SF of restaurant/retail space together with 5-levels of below grade parking for 520 stalls.
